Nurture and Lead: Loving Relationships Begin Within

Nurture and Lead

This morning I started my day with a beautiful heart chakra centered yoga practice. It was short – just over 15 minutes – but I find that even a short practice can be extremely powerful when it is done in connection with the chakra. After this heart centered practice, it seemed only natural to make a connection with Spirit through one of my favorite heart centered decks, The Psychic Tarot for the Heart Oracle Deck by John Holland.

Two cards made it clear that they had a message for us today – Nurture and Lead. I love that these two cards made an appearance together because these cards in traditional tarot would be represented by the Empress and the Emperor, or in Chinese philosophy could be seen as Yin and Yang. In short, these two cards go absolutely perfectly together, comprising two halves of a whole.

Nurture reminds us that while we have planted the seeds for healthy relationships in our lives, now is the time to nurture those seeds. Just as seeds in the garden need tending, your relationships also need loving attention in order to grow and to thrive. Pull into yourself the loving light of Spirit, and release that same light back out into the world through your relationships with others.

Lead asks that we each fully step into our own power, and allow the other people in our lives to be in their power as well. Ask yourself – what would it take for you to be able to live the life that you truly want to be living? Maybe it’s not possible to fully have all that you desire right now, but you can look for small pieces of that dream life that are achievable in the now. Once you begin to integrate those small things in the present, you begin the energetic shift that is necessary to start manifesting those dreams, including the relationships that you desire.

One of the things I really enjoy about this deck are the affirmations that John Holland provides for each of the Major Arcana cards. The affirmations for both these cards are quite powerful and I am sharing them with you here.

Nurture affirmation by John Holland: “I shower all my relationships with loving attention and watch them blossom.”

Lead affirmation by John Holland: “I ensure that my relationships are healthy and that each person’s needs are met.”

I encourage you to look for ways to nurture and to lead in all your relationships, and to spend some time with one or both of these affirmations today. Peace.
